{"id":1235,"date":"2012-08-22T19:08:07","date_gmt":"2012-08-23T03:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.comicbooksecrets.com\/theblog\/?p=1235"},"modified":"2012-08-22T19:08:07","modified_gmt":"2012-08-23T03:08:07","slug":"a-comic-art-literature-find","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.comicbooksecrets.com\/theblog\/uncategorized\/a-comic-art-literature-find\/","title":{"rendered":"A Comic Art + Literature Find"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last week I&#8217;ve been enjoying a combination comic book art\/literature find I stumbled across, a hardcover edition of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley&#8217;s Frankenstein illustrated by Bernie Wrightson.<\/p>\n<p>Bernie Wrightson is one of my favorite comic book artists, and Frankenstein is one of those books I&#8217;ve always been <strong>meaning<\/strong> to read, but kept putting off.  The Wrightson art pushed me over the edge.<\/p>\n<p>The book is wonderfully bound with a decent size type face.  The Wrightson art is excellent, and inserted at just the right places to keep things interesting.  Stephen King provides the introduction and it&#8217;s as engaging as an intro can be. I consider it a bonus that after I finish reading the binding is of sufficient quality that it do well as a conversation piece on a coffee or end table.<\/p>\n<p>If you are looking for a wonderful piece for your library and some classic literature you can enjoy with a comic book twist, I highly recommend this hardcover edition.
