Thousands of Free Comic Books Online?

What if you you could read thousands of old comic books online without paying a penny?

If the owners of htmlcomics are to be believed not only can you do it, but the site is up and running as we speak!

These folks have thousands of comic books scanned and very readable. I just finished browsing a copy of Captain America #1!

The selection is truly amazing, from Action #1, Conan, Spider-man, Superman, to X-men, they are all there.

If you don’t want to risk ruining your collectible copy of a real comic book but still want the joy of reading, check it out.

What a heck of a find. Someone has done a lot of work on this site. Still can’t quite figure out the business model (income streams). For this amount of work, there has to be something more than just the banner ad at the top of the home page. Anyway, execellent find.

Finally! Now I can read all the Thor comics I’ve missed! I was very dissapointed when Marvel stopped creating the DVD collections and decided to sell suscriptions to their poorly kept website. Great going guys! Highly recommend this website! HTML COMICS ROCKS!

Drake – Thanks for the update. I always wondered about how exactly they were pulling this off, I guess it took some time for the case against the owner to be put together. I’ll make a larger post about this with the link to the press release for everyone to see.

  7. Looks like it was shut down. Good.
