Free Comic Book Values and Online Price Guide – Click Here
In the previous comic book value post I talked about using the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide as a source. I also discussed the problems with “the guide.” Today I want to give you few free resources to help find the true value of your comic books.
UPDATE: Comic Book Secrets now has a quick Free Comic Book Values Page for your use. It walks you through finding comic book values and prices and helps you decide the best method for your situation. You can visit the free resource here: Free Comic Book Values
Since these resources are free, you know the old saying: ” you get what you pay for.” Don’t use just one of these sources as the means to come up with the value. If at all possible check out a few.
First off is comicpriceguide.com. This site has a semi-active forum, the ability to actually track your collection and several other features. You can use it to get some ballpark figures for your comics. The search can take a little time do to their tool and you do have to become a member to search, but it’s free.
Next we have nostomania.com. Again, it is free but you have to signup. It’s been a mixed bag for me, but you can use it in your value search.
Finally we have E-bay. I always use E-bay when I start my value search because it is free, easy to use, and contains so many up-to-the-minute sales prices. Anyone can go to E-bay and start searching for current auctions and get an idea of some prices. But to really get useful information you must do the free signup and it will let you search completed auctions. You must do this important step to get the most accurate information.
Here are a couple of little tricks for using E-bay. When you do an initial search for your comic books on the site, look for the “completed listings” box on the left of the page and then click on Show Items. Once you do this you will get a listing, if any, of the closed auctions.
The second little trick I use is to click on some of the actual auctions, especially if the price looks high, and then check the feedback. If the buyer, seller, or both have left positive feedback it is a good indication the sale went through and I can count on the value. If not I discount it and look for more reasonable numbers to arrive at my value. This helps weed out the scam auctions and bidders.
Finally, you can use the Google search tool to search for current retail values of your comic books. You’ll find the tool just below this text. The best way to use the search is to type in the title and issue number of your comic book, plus the term “value”, “price”, or “for sale”. An example would be “X-men 1 value”,”x-men 1 price” or “x-men 1 for sale”. Remember, this will give retail prices, if you are looking to sell your comic books a dealer will typically give you between 10% and 100% of the price depending on the desirability of the comic book.

Keep these sites in mind when you are searching for current sales prices on your comic books. They are good options to get the value and save money.

If this matters at all….subsequently, I have the 2001 Spider – Man movie premiere comic. The actual comic addition where the Goblin kills himself the same exact way he did in the 2001 Spider – Man movie with Tobey Maguire. The difference is it was Gwen Stacy who was Pete’s girlfriend and who is actaully murdered by Gobby. The comic sold for .25 cents back in 1978. The comic is in GOOD condition. Can you help in determining it’s worth? Thanks

Hi! I found your site because I wanted to sell my 17 year old Web of Spider-Man #102 in NEAR-mint condition. If you could give me an estimate of how much it’s worth! PLEASE and thank you!!!!
That is issue, even in Near Mint is commonly found in $1 boxes at comic conventions. If you want to see what it is going for at different sites you can check out our new Comic Book Price Guide and Value Page. Good luck!
Unfortunately most 1980′s comics are found at large discounts at most comic book stores and conventions. Good luck!
I have an original copy of Eastman and Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1. Print date on back is 1984. Can you tell me how much it is worth? It is in almost perfect condition aside from a few minor surface scratches to the cover. (very minor!!!!) Thanks.
Hi Joey Gales , Do you still have the comic book called teenage mutant ninja turtles # 1 ,1984 ? If so , what did you want for it ? Thanks, DAN
i own a Action comics “no.1 1933″ reprint that has the 1983 on inner front cover.i belive its the one ness quick put out and was wondering what its worth if its even worth anything. its the paper back issue and in somewhat good condition ( just a little faded). so yeah would have to hear back.. thanks
I have a small amount of comics but 3 are what I’m most interested in. They are Classics Illustrated No’s 36 (Typee), 58 (The Prairie), and 80 (White Fang). They are all in remarkable shape with very little wear and tear on them.
I have been using this site http://www.findthatfile.com to get all kinds of free comics! Check it out I even got vintage comics from the 50′s!
I have lots of comicbooks. Most are Marvel superheroes.I also have D.C. and others.A couple of books that I picked up today are Superman 75 #2 from Jan. 1993 (Death of Superman),and Giant Superboy #165 from June 1970.I am looking for a reliable price guide. Thanks.
The modern comic books aren’t worth much for the most part, but I would have to see a complete list to be certain. Your most valuable issues probably lie in the 1970′s books. Giant Size comics from DC are in demand, especially in high grade. Make sure you check out the free online price guide and value resource to check on some of the values and don’t leave out the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide as a research tool. If you want to sell them, make sure to visit the how to sell your comic books post. Good luck!
I am wondering the value of “Spectacular Spider-Man (Vol. 1) #101″ my copy is either very fine or near mint. however my copy is numbered 1/10 and signed by stan lee with a certificate of authenticity. does this increase the value at all? i’m having trouble gauging a value for it. thank you very much
Well I have two comic books in pretty good condition.
The first is a #4 four issue limited edition series: x-men vs. the avengers published in 1987.
And the last is a 48 page anniversary special: Iron Man published in 1992.
If you could, I’d like to know how much each of these would be worth.
my uncle pasted away and has boxes and boxes of comics does anyone know how to find out of any of these have value. alot of them are from 1975 to 1985. alot of spiderman and incredible hulk and batman etc. thanks
Unfortunately both of those comics are part of the 1980′s “glut” and aren’t worth very much. They can be found in many 25 cent to $1 bins at comic book conventions.
Sorry to hear about your uncle. There may be some valuable comics in the boxes you have acquired, especially those from the 1970′s. Superhero titles like you mentioned (Spider-man, Hulk and Batman) remain in demand. Since you have several boxes you will probably want to get an Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide to start going over the collection. To get a head start on finding the values check out the Instant Comic Book Values and Price Guide and Comic Book Grading Basics posts. Follow the tips and tricks in those posts. After you get some idea of the value you’ll have to decide whether you want to sell them or become a collector yourself. Best of luck and let me know how it goes.
The Action Comics 1 reprints are only worth some money if they are in pristine condition.
That is a great point, I am very glad to read this publication, and I consent with the issues of this essay. I think this is the best impression. I like to do something after reading it.
Thank you! I really love your blog
its a miracle how I ended up on your website.
I have a 1985 Superman The Secret Years in mint condition. Is it worth anything?

With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My site has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement. Do you know any methods to help prevent content from being ripped off? I’d really appreciate it.
