Several months ago I made a post about making money online with your comics. There are several ways to do this but one of the easiest is to create a blog and monetize it. Your blog can sell comic books, affiliate products, broker ads, sell your own collectible products, or just be a pure fan site and give great information.

The Comic Book Secrets blog uses Wordpress for the content management system. After trying a few different blogging solutions I have found Wordpress to be the best. Once people decide to run a website the next question I get is “how do I set it up?”,”how do I make money with it?” and “how do I get traffic?” I could take the time and put out my own product to explain all of this, but to me it would be a waste of time since someone else has already done it. I am an affiliate for Wordpress Wizard 2.0 and I recommend the product because it answers all of the above questions and so much more!

What exactly is it? It’s the ultimate wordpress and blogging coaching program in which you’ll find a series of more than 50 videos showing you everything you need to start a blog, get traffic and earn from it.

I have good news – Wordpress Wizard is running a $30 off promotion right now for a limited time!

If you want to start you own website, get traffic and monetize it, click here to find out more about Wordpress Wizard. Remember the special only last three days.

A Superman 1 in CGC 7.0 Restored Condition sold for $35,000. The reason behind this sale is interesting. Take a look at the listing. Will we see more comics sold to pay for basic survival? Only time will tell how the current depression will play out. If you compare this sale price to previous sales at both this grade level and higher this actually is a decent price for the seller. It is not a “fire sale” return, and in fact is around $4,000 more than this same book sold for 2 years ago. It looks like comic books are holding their value for the time being, let’s hope the trend continues. Here is the Superman #1:

Disney announced a $4 Billion offer for Marvel Enterprises. Will we be watching Spider-Mouse soon?

What does this mean for comic book collectors and investors?

Only time will tell, but hopefully this won’t hurt old comic book sales.

Disney, without a doubt, has the cash, know-how and marketing muscle to make the Marvel superhero stable even more of a household name. If you read the “Will Comic Book Values Crash” post from way back in February 2008, you know I think that character recognition and appreciation will continue to drive back issue sales. Who knows, with the right marketing and stories you could even see a pickup in new comic book sales.

The fears I have include Disney’s cutthroat business practices, their willingness to clamp down on creators, and their uncanny ability to try and squeeze every last penny of revenue out of a character or idea until everyone is sick of it and it dies. Let’s hope the last option isn’t in the cards for old Marvel. Also worrisome is the history of a giant media company purchasing a comic book house and decimating their movies. Can anyone say Time/Warner and DC? At least they finally came around with Batman Begins.

We’ll be watching this story and hoping for the best.
