Must Have Comic Book Resources
There are a few items that every collector should have. Even if you just happened upon some comics you should have the first resource.
Here they are:
The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide
This is considered the "Bible" of the industry. I use it to get some ballpark values, but I use it primarily for research. A lot of dealers just use the listed values in the book to price their comics, but they won't pay anywhere near those prices if you try to sell to them.
If you are new to comic books, you must get this guide. Even if you are a veteran, keep it around for research.
The Official Overstreet Comic Book Grading Guide
Whether you are new or have been collecting for years, this book is a must have to tweak your comic book grading skills. The book is loaded with graphic examples. Every grade is broken down with acceptable and unacceptable flaws, plus tons of photos.
Comic Buyer's Guide Standard Catalog of Comic Books
This is the heavy duty reference book of the industry. First appearances, print runs, CGC sales, and more are included. This moves beyond the "beginner" references above, and into the realm of the serious collector.
If you are serious about being a collector/investor, get this book.
E-bay Account
E-bay is the go to place for current comic book values. A quick search will allow you to see what is selling, and follow the book to the final sale.
If you don't have a free E-bay account, get one now! The two most important benefits of the account is the ability to add items to your watchlist, and to look at closed auctions.
You must look at closed auctions to see the current market values for comic books.
